If you’re reading this, then you have somehow managed to stumble into our fun, little spot in the world we have brought to life for you to enjoy. I’m Isabella, wife of 32 years to the most resourceful and giving man I’ve ever met, Earl Watkins.
I told Earl that I wanted to open a restaurant and make pizza and goodies from scratch for all to enjoy. He pulled his ball cap off, wiped his brow, and with a puzzled look, said, “Huh. A pizza restaurant.” I laughed and then explained how I wanted to bring my grandmother’s recipes to life here. Earl understood because he knew my love of cooking and entertaining was real. We met many years before on the Amalfi Coast in Positano, Italy when he was stationed in Europe and I was spending the summer with my grandmother.
Earl stood there, wondering about the idea of opening this place. Although he had many questions, he expressed that as long as he could be in charge of the building, then he was in! I knew then that he would find a way to make this dream a reality for us.
The next morning when I woke up, Earl had his notepad out on the kitchen table with his cup of coffee beside him. He called me in and showed me a sketched layout of the old fire station that he knew was for sale in Argyle, Texas.
I asked Earl how long had he been awake and he told me most of the night. He had a lot of ideas on what the place could look like – how he could re-purpose old things to make it feel unique & inviting in a very fun and friendly way.
See, that’s my Earl – he’s a doer. Some have even called him an active dreamer.
He began to show me all of the little things he was thinking about and how he would make it work. Just watching Earl explain everything in such great detail, I knew this was going to be a very special place.
Earl asked me if we could pay homage to his military days and help commemorate those who have served this great country for so long. I thought it was perfect! He wanted to give back what we could to support our troops. And that’s part of what we set out to do.
As we were approaching the finishing touches, Earl asked me what I wanted to call the restaurant? I took a moment to look around at all of the beautiful work he had done and I knew there was only one name for this place.
We want to share this with anyone and everyone that visits here. We hope that you find our love of food, country and fun enhances your experience with us.
We invite you all to make Earl’s your place – to hang out with friends & family and make memories.
(Now, if this story isn’t true, well it oughta be!)
